Here’s another Blog by a Mississauga Chiropractor….

Just watched The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 (2011) starring, Kristen Stewart (The Runaways), Robert Pattinson (Remember Me), & Taylor Lautner (Abduction).

In this edition of the Twilight series, Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) announce that they are getting married and then leave for a romantic honeymoon at a secret location off the coast of Brazil.  Days after losing her virginity to Edward, Bella feels a twitch inside her womb, runs to the mirror and sees a bump as if she is already a few months pregnant. When Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) and the rest of the werewolves find out that Bella is pregnant with Edward’s baby, Sam (Chaske Spencer), the leader of the wolf pack announces that they have to prevent this monster from being born. Sam declares that they must kill Bella and the rest of the Cullen clan. Jacob decides to rebel against his own tribe and create a second wolf pack to protect the Cullen clan against Sam’s attack.  When Bella’s daughter Rennesmee is born, Jacob imprints on the baby and vows to protect her forever.

Overall, this movie was pretty slow paced.  Only 3 significant things took place (a wedding, a honeymoon & a baby) and they dragged out these events into a 2-hour period.  There were countless close-ups of faces & body parts, and numerous moments when a long song would play with a montage of shots of Bella & Edward starring into each other’s eyes, or Jacob scowling in the background.  Everyone in the theatre was soaking this all in.  There were teenage girls in front of me, to my left & right and even more sitting behind me.  Occasionally, some guy in the front row would sarcastically squeal for Edward which would break the uncomfortable silence in the theatre.

I would give this movie a generous 6/10 stars.  Even though the pacing was slow, I found myself caught up in the fight scene at the end when the wolves & vampires were battling it out.  I think they could have made this movie about and hour shorter… Or not split the movie into two parts.  But where is the money in that?  Happy Viewing!
