Here’s another Blog by a Mississauga Chiropractor…
On Sunday February 12, 2012the Nomads Running Club took a little field trip away from our usual Rivergrove Community Centre home. Long time Nomad Keith Rodrigues invited us all out for the Dump Run in Hamilton. If you haven’t done the Dump Run before, consider yourself lucky. It is one of the hilliest courses around. Personally, I had run it only once before in the summer of 2009, which coincidently was the last time the Nomads had attempted this tough course.
We all met at Lasalle Park inBurlington, and headed out on that snowy morning. The footing was quite slippery with snow since it had snowed the Friday and Saturday before. This made the hills, that much more punishing. The strong wind didn’t help matters either. We all just ran through it. Hill after hill approached, and we conquered them all.
Along the way, we saw many other runners wearing bright orange running jackets. I asked one of them what club they belonged to, and they proudly answered, “Connor’s Runners”. This was the running club founded by chiropractor, Dr. Stephen Connor, who was also an accomplished runner. This Burlington Running Club graduates many runners to the Boston Marathon. So I felt honoured to be running the same route as these strong runners.
The last part of the Dump Run was run through the Around the Bay Race course, however we were running it in reverse. I had done Around the Bay course many times in the past, but the scenery looked different as we were going backwards. When we finally arrived back to Lasalle Park we were all happy that we conquered this tough 30 km route.
Now for the big breakfast…
But not too big, we were all still in training mode.
