Another Blog from aMississaugaChiropractor…
On June 30, 2012, Maria and I visited Time Square for the first time during our trip to New York City. Times Square is a major commercial intersection in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, at the junction ofBroadway and Seventh Avenue and stretching from West 42nd to West 47th Streets.
Times Square is iconified as “The Crossroads of the World” and the “The Great White Way” because it is the brightly illuminated hub of the Broadway theatre district, one of the world’s busiest pedestrian intersections, and a major center of the world’s entertainment industry.
When we got to Time Square, it was instant sensory overload. There were so many bright lights and big jumbotron television sets flashing commercial advertisements everywhere. Half of the street was painted blue, and this is where the pedestrians were allowed to walk. There were tons of street portrait artists and people dressed in mascot costumes walking around. The number of people in this one area was overwealming.
Maria and I had about 1 hour to kill before our evening Broadway show at 8pm, so we visited some of the stores in Time Square. Again each store was packed with consumers. After our show let out at 11pm, to our amazement, Time Square was even busier.
This was probably due to the fact that all the Broadway shows were letting out at the same time. It was pitch dark, so the illuminated signs and televisions of Time Square shown even brighter. We were also surprised that all the stores were still open and busy going at12:30am. We weren’t sure when they actually closed down.
New York is really, ‘the city that never sleeps’. Just another day in the life of a Mississauga Chiropractor.
