Here’s another blog from a Mississauga Chiropractor….
Sunday morning onJuly 1, 2012, Maria and I did our first run through Central Park in Manhattan, New York. Our hotel was about 2km from the park, so we started off at 41 Street and Madison and headed up towards 59 and Fifth Avenue where the park entrance was located.
We spotted a map of the park, and picked out a trail that we would try. It was pretty hot that morning, so Maria and I started off with a slow jog. Soon we came upon the Central Park Zoo. We didn`t see any animals, just a few signs indicating which animals were present when the zoo was open.
After the zoo, we continued on through the park and spotted a bunch of statues. Hans Christian Anderson, Alice in Wonderland and even Cleopatra’s Needle, (apparently carved in 1450 B.C. for Thutmose III, the hieroglyphs on the needle were inscribed in 1250 B.C. for Rameses II).
Then we came upon the big reservoir. This was a 2.5 km loop around a lake where a lot of runners train. Maria mentioned to me that a famous Sex and the City scene was shot there where Carrie was running around the lake.
Then we ran through Shakespeare in the park,BelvedereCastle(which was built in 1869), and the Rat Rock.
Overall, running throughCentral Parkwas quite the experience. We ended up doing 12km in total (8km in the park).
It felt like running in an actual race because there were so many runners and joggers in front of us and behind us.
Maybe it was because we were out on Sunday morning, and that is when most people who are training, would do their ‘long runs’. Running throughCentral Parkis definitely something you should add to your bucket list of things to do. Just another day in the life of a Mississauga Chiropractor.
