Here’s another blog from a Mississauga Chiropractor…
This movie is a fresh and funny retelling of the Snow White fairytale. Mirror Mirror features breakout star Lily Collins as Snow White, a princess in exile, and Julia Roberts as The Evil Queen who ruthlessly rules her captured kingdom. Seven courageous rebel Dwarfs: Grimm (Danny Woodburn from Seinfeld), Butcher (Martin Klebba from Pirates of the Caribbean), Napoleon (Jordan Prentice from Howard the Duck), Half Pint (Mark Povinelli from the Polar Express), Grub (Joe Gnoffo), Wolf (Sebastian Saraceno) & Chuckles (Ronald Lee Clark) join forces with Snow White as she fights to reclaim her birthright and win the heart of Prince Alcott (Armie Hammer) in this magical comedy filled with jealousy, romance, and betrayal that will capture the hearts and imaginations of audiences the world over.
Each Dwarf also had their special characteristic. Grimm was a former school teacher so he is the wise one of the group. Butcher likes to use his fists to solve problems. Napoleon likes to look good with his fancy garments. Half Pint is always in love, especially with Snow White. Grub loves to eat. Chuckles loves to laugh. I’m not sure what wolf does. He wears a wolf’s head on his head.
Going into this film, I knew it was a “kids movie”, so I wasn’t expecting huge things. I knew there would be a lot of slapsticks comedy from watching the trailer and a lot of kids humour. After having said that, I would say that I was entertained through the entire film. There were a couple of slow moments in the movie, but overall, the pacing was good. Mirror Mirror pretty much kept to the Snow White fairytale with just a few alterations. I really enjoyed the Bollywood Musical number at the end of the movie while the credits were rolling.
Overall, I’d give this movie a fun-filled 6/10 Stars. It’s maybe more of a renter than a theatre movie. Happy Viewing!
