Here’s another blog by a Mississauga Chiropactor…
I just watched the documentary Fat Head (2009) where comedian (Tom Naughton) replies to the “Super Size Me” crowd by losing weight on a fast-food diet (which included plenty of double-cheeseburgers and fried chicken) while demonstrating that almost everything you think you know about the obesity “epidemic” and healthy eating is wrong.
This documentary acts as a rebuttal to Morgan Spurlock’s documentary Super Size Me (2004) where Spurlock pigged out at McDonalds, 3 meals-a-day for 30 days, resulting in a weight gain of 25 pounds and an overall decline in his mental and physical health. In this movie, Tom Naughton eats fast food for 28 days and actually loses 12 pounds and lowers his cholesterol. Naughton intentionally ate a high saturated-fat diet and a moderate-carbohydrate diet to prove his hypothesis.
The movie correctly targets sedentary lifestyle, sugars, and snacking as being major culprits in fat problems… Not necessarily Fast Food. It also presents a plethora of dietary information that is largely unknown by today’s population and does so in an entertaining fashion.
I give this movie 8/10 stars, and I highly recommend that you check it out. Happy Viewings!
