Here’s another blog from a Mississauga Chiropractor…

Just watched Brave (2012), staring Kelly Macdonald (Trainspotting), Billy Connolly (The Last Samurai) & Emma Thompson (Men in Black 3).

Set in Scotland in a rugged and mythical time, “Brave” features Merida (Kelly Macdonald), an aspiring archer and impetuous daughter of royalty, King Fergus (Billy Connolly) & Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson).  When a competition is setup to determine which prince will marry Merida, she seeks the help of The Witch (Julie Walters) who turns her mom into a bear.  Merida now has to fix her reckless mistake in order to set things right.

I wasn’t a big fan of this particular Disney animation film.  After last year’s Disney hit Tangled, I thought Brave would be another favourite.  This wasn’t the case. I think the whole mother-turning-into-a-bear kind of through me off.  I liked the Scottish theme of the movie, and King Fergus, The Lords:  Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane), Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson) And Merida’s suitors:  Wee Dingwall (Callum O’Neill), Young MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd) & Young Macintosh (Steven Cree) were all pretty funny.  However, the movie didn’t capture my attention, the way some past Disney films have.  The soundtrack was also quite lacking in this film.

Overall, I would give this movie 5/10 stars.  Check it out for yourself.  Happy Viewing!
